How It Works
Is my existing driveway base suitable for a bonded surface?
The installer surveys the base for cracks, movement, and drainage fall before specifying anything. If the base shows frost heave or significant cracking, a bonded surface will not be recommended, a resin-bound system with sub-base repair would be quoted instead.
What happens if I delay fixing a cracked base before applying a bonded surface?
Applying resin over a moving or cracked base traps the failure. The surface will delaminate, usually within the first freeze-thaw cycle, and the entire bonded layer will need to be removed and reapplied over a repaired base, costing more than addressing the base first.
Why does the resin grade matter at Golden’s elevation?
Front Range UV intensity degrades standard resin binders faster than at lower altitudes. A UV-stable formulation is specified for this elevation so the binder retains its bond and the aggregate does not loosen prematurely.
Can a bonded surface handle snowmelt runoff on a sloped driveway?
It can, provided the drainage fall is mapped before install. The installer measures the slope and routes the spec so runoff channels away from the bonded surface rather than concentrating beneath it. Steep grades may be better suited to a resin-bound system.
Does a resin bonded surface require planning permission in Golden?
Most residential driveway resurfacing does not require a permit when the existing footprint is unchanged. The installer confirms local requirements during the site visit and notes any applicable conditions in the written quote.
How long does a resin bonded installation take?
A standard residential driveway typically takes one day for the bonded coat and aggregate broadcast, plus cure time before vehicle use. The written quote specifies the cure period based on the resin grade and forecast temperatures at the time of install.
